Teeth whitening

Would you like a fresher, lighter smile? At Dovident you can have your teeth safely whitened under professional supervision. We use only safe products and treat only a healthy mouth.

When is whitening suitable?

Teeth whitening is intended for people who want to make the colour of their teeth lighter. Discolouration often results from coffee, tea, red wine, smoking or natural ageing. The treatment is suitable for a healthy mouth without active cavities or gum problems. For teeth that have discoloured following a root canal treatment, a tailored approach is required.

Treatment process

At the first appointment we make a digital scan of your teeth. Based on this, custom-made whitening trays are produced in the laboratory. At the follow-up appointment, about a week later, you will receive the whitening gel together with clear instructions so you can whiten safely at home. This combines professional supervision with convenience.

Results and longevity

After the treatment you will notice a difference quickly: your teeth will be visibly lighter. How long the result lasts depends on your original tooth colour and your lifestyle. On average the effect lasts one to three years. Existing fillings, crowns or veneers do not change colour, however. We will therefore discuss beforehand whether adjustments are needed to achieve an even final result.

Safety and advice

Whitening is safe when carried out under the supervision of a professional. We use only products that comply with European guidelines. The enamel is not permanently damaged and persistent sensitivity is rare. Sometimes teeth may be temporarily sensitive to cold or hot food and drink; this usually disappears within a few days. During the treatment and for at least one week afterwards we advise avoiding staining drinks and foods such as coffee, tea, red wine, beetroot juice, turmeric and soy sauce.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does teeth whitening hurt?
The treatment itself is not painful. Sometimes you may experience short-term sensitivity during or after whitening, especially with cold or hot food and drink. This will go away on its own.
  • Will my whole mouth be evenly white?
The natural tooth tissue will lighten, but fillings, crowns or veneers will not change colour. If necessary we can adjust restorations afterwards to achieve an even result.
  • Can I whiten at home with toothpaste or strips?
Many products are less effective or can be harmful to your enamel. We recommend professional whitening only under supervision.
  • How often can I whiten?
That depends on your oral health and lifestyle. In practice: no more often than necessary. Repeating after 1–2 years is possible if desired.
  • Can I eat and drink normally straight after whitening?
After the treatment we recommend avoiding staining drinks and foods (such as coffee, tea, red wine, beetroot juice, turmeric and soy sauce) for at least one week.
