Invisalign

Would you like straighter teeth without a visible brace? Invisalign is a modern orthodontic treatment using clear aligners that gradually correct your teeth. At Dovident we have extensive experience with both Invisalign Go and Go Plus. These systems allow us to treat a range of alignment issues comfortably and almost invisibly.

When is Invisalign suitable?

Invisalign is suitable for correcting crooked teeth, minor rotations, gaps, and mild to moderate crowding. It is often chosen for aesthetic improvements, but can also offer functional benefits, such as improving the bite and making oral hygiene easier. Invisalign is suitable for both young adults and adults, provided the teeth and gums are healthy and there are no active infections or cavities. During the consultation, we assess whether your situation is suitable for aligner treatment and what results you can realistically expect.

Which Invisalign treatment is right for you?

Invisalign offers different treatment options, depending on the extent of the correction and the complexity of your case. Very minor adjustments can often be treated with a shorter plan, while more pronounced misalignment requires a more comprehensive approach. Invisalign Go Express is used for small corrections, Invisalign Go focuses on aesthetic improvements in the visible part of the teeth, and Invisalign Go Plus is suitable for more extensive or complex corrections.

The most appropriate option depends on your dental situation and your desired outcome. Based on a digital scan and treatment plan, we determine which approach best fits your needs.

How does the treatment work?

After an intake and oral examination we take a digital scan of your teeth. A 3D treatment plan is created, and you will be shown a simulation of the expected result before treatment begins. Your aligners are then custom-made.

You typically wear each aligner for 1 to 2 weeks, then move on to the next in the series. Each set gradually shifts your teeth toward the desired position. For best results, wear the aligners for at least 20–22 hours a day.

Benefits of Invisalign

  • Almost invisible: The aligners are clear and barely noticeable
  • Comfortable: No metal or wires in the mouth
  • Removable: You can eat, brush and floss as normal
  • Effective: Suitable for many common alignment issues

What to expect during the course?

Treatment typically lasts 4 to 12 months, depending on complexity. You will attend regular check-ups, usually every 6 to 8 weeks. We monitor progress and adjust the plan if needed.

At Dovident we provide close guidance, clear instructions and ongoing follow-up. You will always know what to expect.

Discipline and commitment

Success with Invisalign depends heavily on your commitment. Aligners must be worn almost continuously. Because they are removable, it can be tempting to take them out more often than advisable. We discuss this thoroughly beforehand so you understand what is required.

After treatment

After completing the aligner phase it is important to retain the teeth in their new position. You will usually receive a fixed retainer behind the front teeth or a clear night-time retainer. Without retention, teeth may gradually move back toward their original positions.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Invisalign painful?
Most people feel only mild pressure or sensitivity when switching aligners. This is normal and shows the treatment is working.
  • Can I eat and drink normally with Invisalign?
Aligners must be removed for eating. Water is fine with the aligners in. Hot drinks or food can deform the material.
  • Is Invisalign suitable for everyone?
Not for everyone. Severe dental problems or a complex bite may require traditional orthodontic treatment. We will discuss suitability during the intake.
  • Is Invisalign covered by insurance?
Orthodontic treatment for adults is usually not covered by the basic Dutch health insurance. Some supplementary policies may offer coverage. We can check this with you.
  • What if I lose an aligner?
Please contact us. In some cases you can continue with the next aligner, or we can arrange a replacement.
