Fees, insurance and payment
This page gives you a clear overview of our fees, what your insurance may cover, and how payment works. That way, you know what to expect in advance.
Fees and treatment costs
Dental fees in the Netherlands are set each year by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). This means all dental practices use the same maximum rates. At Dovident, we follow these national guidelines. You can find the current fees on our website or on the NZa website (in Dutch).
Some treatments consist of multiple items. For more extensive treatments, such as crowns or root canal procedures, we prepare a treatment estimate in advance. If the expected cost exceeds €250, you will always receive this estimate in writing. You can also ask for an estimate for smaller treatments, so you have a clear idea of the expected costs beforehand.
Insurance and reimbursement
For patients under 18, most dental care is covered by basic health insurance. For adults, coverage depends on your additional dental insurance. The level of reimbursement and conditions vary by insurer and policy, so we recommend checking this with your insurer in advance.
We can check your insurance details and give you an indication of possible reimbursement. Please note that this is only an estimate. The final reimbursement is always determined by your insurer and your policy. If you have recently changed insurer or switched to a different plan, please let us know so we can take this into account.
Claims
If you have Dutch health insurance, we usually send the claim directly to your insurer. If a treatment is fully covered, you will not receive an invoice from us. Most insurers provide an online overview of your claims.
If a treatment is not or only partly covered, you will receive an invoice from us for the remaining amount. In some cases, your insurer pays us in full and charges you directly for the uncovered part. This depends on your policy and insurer.
If you do not have Dutch health insurance, payment is required in the practice by card.
Invoices and payment
Invoices are sent by email. The payment term is 14 days from the invoice date. You can pay by bank transfer or via iDEAL / Wero. In some cases, it is possible to arrange a payment plan.
For new patients without additional dental insurance, we may ask for payment immediately in the practice by card. This will always be discussed with you in advance.
Please make sure we have your correct email address, as we send invoices and payment information digitally. You can update your details with us at any time.
No-show policy
If you need to cancel an appointment, please do so at least two working days in advance. If an appointment is missed or cancelled too late, we may charge a fee. During your appointment, our team and treatment room are reserved specifically for you. If you do not attend, we cannot offer that time to another patient. Cancelling in time helps us keep our schedule running smoothly.
All treatments and payments are subject to the KNMT terms and conditions (in Dutch).
