Tooth-coloured fillings

Tooth-coloured fillings are a modern, aesthetic solution for restoring cavities or damage. At Dovident we use high-quality composite materials that allow us to restore teeth and molars both functionally and attractively.

Restoring decay and damage

When tooth decay or damage occurs, the affected tissue must be removed and replaced with a filling material. Composite is particularly suitable for this. It bonds well to the tooth surface, can be precisely shaped and is quickly cured using a special light.

Aesthetics are key

A composite filling is carefully colour-matched so that it blends perfectly with your natural tooth shade. This is especially important for front teeth, where the filling should be indistinguishable from the original enamel. We also recreate a natural anatomy in molars so you notice no difference when chewing.

Technique and durability

Modern composites are wear-resistant and withstand everyday use well. When placing a filling we build it up in layers, curing each layer separately. This improves longevity and reduces excessive shrinkage of the material.

Replacing old fillings

Old amalgam fillings or worn restorations can be replaced with new tooth-coloured fillings where indicated: for example in case of leakage, fracture, or for aesthetic reasons. In some cases a crown may be more suitable; we assess this individually.

Frequently asked questions

  • How long does a tooth-coloured filling last?
On average 5 to 10 years, but with good oral hygiene they can last longer.
  • Is a filling visible?
No, the colour is matched to your own teeth so the result is virtually invisible.
  • Does getting a filling hurt?
Not if anaesthetic is used. We ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible.
  • Is composite suitable for larger molars?
Yes, although for very large defects a crown may be the better option. We will discuss this with you.
  • Is this covered by insurance?
Fully covered by the Dutch basic insurance for children under 18. For adults coverage is usually via the supplementary dental insurance.
